Jane explains how utilising the skills parents have can save the teacher hours of learning and becoming an expert. She shows how to do a request audit, analysing the questions children ask and the best way to minimise them and encourage independence, meaning the teacher spends less time responding to requests. Jane also outlines how to put together a ‘special box’ system for children, where pictures, party invitations and letters from school can be placed for parents to collect, taking the onus off the teacher to keep them all safe. Additionally, we visit Clare Grehan, an early years teacher at Worth Primary School, to see how a self-registration time-saving idea can work in practice.
