Commonwork, in the heart of the Weald of Kent, boasts over 500 acres of land and an organic herd of 280 dairy cows. The class finds out more about organic principles of farming and its relationship to healthy eating. The children are taken on a tour of the dairy unit and the small organic vegetable garden. They are encouraged to think more about their own impact on the local environment, particularly with regard to recycling. They prepare, bake and eat naan bread.
In a literacy lesson back at school they use their new knowledge in the writing of a recipe.
