Plymouth’s mobile museum brings natural history to the classroom Plymouth’s Museum in Transit (MIT) is an funded by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council’s ‘Renaissance in the Regions’ project, and reveals how schools can make the most of loans from local museums.
Teachers can book the MIT to come into school free of charge for a week of activities which every pupil will have direct contact with. The content of the van and sessions are flexible to schools requirements. MIT can cover subjects including natural history, ancient civilisations and art.
Pupils set-up and curate their own school museum which they continue to manage after the MIT has gone.
In this programme MIT visits Hooe Primary school to undertake a week of activities based on the theme of Natural History.
