Order fractions using reciprocals in a quick KS3 maths starter This is a lesson starter on fractions, designed for use in a KS3 maths lesson.
The problem: Presenter Isaac Anoom challenges students to put these five fractions in order from the smallest to the largest:
1/9, 2/17, 3/29, 4/33, 5/43.
Isaac explains that the traditional method of finding a common denominator and then comparing the numerators will be awkward for these fractions. Instead, he demonstrates how reciprocal fractions could to solve the problem.
